Western Ships 10.1GB Drive
Western Digital this week started shipping a 10.1GB hard drive to meet the demand for storage generated by Windows 98, a company executive said.
The company projects that increasing consumer use of graphics- and audio-intensive software will fuel demand for larger-capacity hard drives; it expects drive capacities will continue to double every 18 months. Windows 98's larger memory requirements are boosting what had become a tough market, the executive said.
The new drive carries a suggested retail price of $339.
