TheStreet.Com's article on Global Marine & their jackup fiasco... If I were to ever short an oil patch stock - this may be the one; a quick daytrade looking pretty obvious here....but, maybe too obvious ? If anyone who reads this still holds GLM in this enviroment; - good luck. I have never been a GLM fan - CDG is the rabbit here in shallow water and ESV, RDC & MDCO are lower debt - lower cost and financially much more efficient in a soft market. RIG, DO, NE & FLC are better plays off the deepwater move. They all are also arguably better movers... Honestly - better prepare for a big hit ...imho. This will create an interesting ''case study''; in that - 1. Is this news all ready common knowledge for all of the institutions and analysts ? Or will we see a wholesale dump in GLM from the open ? If we do, and it becomes obvious that analysts did NOT have this news; - then not only does Mavis (SCOOP) Scanlon deserve an award, but some analyst deserves to be looking for another job... 2. It is certainly NOT known by all the individual investors in GLM; hmmm, if they sell tomorrow - does this once again give the institutions a chance to step in and buy on the cheap after running the smallfry off ? 3. If it was in the hands of the analysts - why didn't we hear it from them; instead of Mavis Scanlon via TSC ? - where were the damn analysts on GLM when we really needed them ? - who is the ''AX'' on GLM ? ...looks like Mavis is to me ! Honorary Queen for a day - AX ! Thanks Mavis - great article. - ever think about becoming an analyst ? 4. This would be Cramer's/TSC's nightmare... off of this potential blockbuster article; nothing happens ! - GLM trades off normal volume and stays flat, - a non-event. Can or can't TheStreet.Com move the market ? - I think we will find out in GLM tomorrow... I'm sleeping on it, but it sure looks like a quick $1 1/2+ short daytrade (God; I hate the thought) ; in at breakfast and out by lunch...but, don't know if I could enjoy dinner after shorting... but here in the pits of hell; money is money - if I can make some extra cash shorting GLM and then use the cash to buy SCSWF, CXIPY or OMNI - then hey, a mans gotta do what he's gotta do...
