Thean,

>>In all fairness it is most probably caused by his evil twin Diamond's daily tormenting.<<

I agree that DH hit back uncomfortably hard. But in all fairness I have seen other instances where people on SI were whacked over the head with a 2x4, and later thanked the tormenters profusely for helping them see the light. If Slider had listened to DH and others earlier, this tragedy could have been avoided. When Slider fell in love with the OSX, he never should have put more than 10% of his money into it.

It seemed to me all along that he was very insecure about his positions, hence his constant need to justify them to all and sundry. The final blow was Shell's bad earnings report and some analyst's negative comments on CNBC.

>>If so the decision is easy - just buy back what he sold and maybe even switch over to some better quality names and recharge.<<

This was his second capitulation. He already did unwind his margin and clean up the quality of his portfolio a week or so ago. But everything kept dropping, like RIG yesterday down 10%. I think if he buys back now he is almost certain to be whipsawed.

Slider's big problem is that he is way too emotional to be trading stocks. About a month ago, he made an offhand comment along the lines of: "Maybe I need counseling." A cry for help, perhaps? I hope he gets it.
