I suspect that you have a hardware conflict somewhere in regards to Unreal. I am running 233mghz K6 with only a Viper card with 8 meg, 32 meg ram and I run relatively well. It can be a little bit choppy here and there but all in all it's not bad. But we do see eye to eye on system requirements. Many users aren't willing to trade in their low level Pentiums just yet. However, Compaq just announced that one of their Presario lines will have Monster II video options available now. Probably won't be long before others follow. That's good news for all gamers I suspect. You have to admit as the industry becomes more saturated with high requirement games, the users will inevitably follow. Your system should be good for quite a while so if I had to guess I would say look at that Matrox card.

You're also right about cramming everything into the 4th quarter but you have to admit it does spur them toward putting out the best of breed.

As for the MPEG, I don't know if it is on the GT site but I suspect it is. I got mine from a PCGames magazine demo disk.

GT is going to be faced with a very harsh reality. The market share is beginning to head toward the RPG line as there is so much more variety that can be offered. A little of everything. A little questing, a little combat, a little puzzle solving, a little of everything. And you know I harped on this one a long time ago...GT is woefully represented in that market. I said over a year ago they are going to have to wake up to this market or they are going to miss a very lucrative business. My feeling is that they will continue to ignore it and they will continue to fight a losing battle with continued decline in shooter and strategy markets. People are beggin for some variety and they will get what they want.

By the way , you didn't answer my question <g>. Would either of us have guessed what a mess this company would be in a year and a half ago <sigh>. Glad I got out with my shirt only partially torn off.
