Skipper, As far as I was able to determine, they don't. The girls just don't seem to like thieves. Or, for that matter, lazy guys or drunks. (They are also not the least bit shy about telling a guy what they think of him, and why.) Premarital sex is accepted and pretty common, but the criteria are pretty firm. Not that there aren't exceptions - from every batch there's a girl or two who hooks up with the wrong guy, and regrets it. But in general, it's a remarkably effective way of controlling male behavior. I never heard of a rape case. I shudder to think what would happen if someone tried. It would not be a slap on the wrist. They aren't that civilized. Really very pleasant and hospitable people, as long as you accept them as they are and don't try to mess with their land or tell them what to do. If you have it in mind to cut down the trees, mine the minerals, or build a hydroelectric dam, they are very dangerous indeed. They've proven that several times recently, and the lowlanders pretty much leave them alone. Steve
