That's the finest article on ADSL to date. Just today I talked to one of Efficient Networks' VPs and was told they're looking at microfilter splitterless closely. Actually, having filters makes it "semi-splitterless." My friend said he prefers to call it "No Truck- roll DSL" because it eliminates the need for service at the customer premise. True splitterless may never emerge but it's probably too soon to say.

What's absolutely clear is that ATM will be the transport for ADSL.

It's also clear there are some big players scrambling to get their own silicon out the door. I believe ADI's a step ahead of the others, but even if true, their engineers no doubt are watching the rearview mirror closely.

BTW, I've now heard from three sources that DT's made its decision. The word's out.
