Bob, one of the machines I am using the removable (IDE) HD on has an Ultra Wide SCSI. Can really tell the difference. I kept adding ram (got up to 128 meg) and everything else I could think of trying to get the performance out of the PII 300. It appeared to me when I was running scans that the computer was waiting on the HD. When I put the Ultra Wide SCSI in, it came to life.

I looked at a removable SCSI but the cost difference was just too great.

I move around so much during the week that I couldn't keep my computers in sync. Now I have a permanent drive in each machine with the basics loaded and keep everything else on this removable.(And run a tape backup daily as I feel it could be more apt to get damaged or go bad)
