kory. absolutely not. the reality is that over indulgence is always punished. always. talk to the japanese for a recent example. before being involved in a manic bubble market i felt bad that many of the japanese lost so much of their savings. now i don't.

purging of excesses is just nature's way of saying enough is enough. sure, it can be prolonged and even increased - for a while. but, if you think the gtw's of the world are going to trade at these high levels when they can't grow earnings then you are mistaken. maybe they can pimp the stock like xlnx and altr did (both for about 6 qs with no growth. their mantra was "last q sucked, next q will be great" - ring a bell? well, next q never was great and they have since taken nasty haircuts). but, that only lasts a while.

hey, maybe the gtw's of the world can sustain historically high pes in a no growth environment. i just highly doubt it. please don't cite dell as representing that the pc industry is fine. ibm has flat revs, hwp has warned 6 qs running, muei is losing money, toshiba ran out of the consumer market b/c it was so great ;-), and gtw... we know that no growth story...

>>Are you still spreading this misinformation? Please explain to me how $.38 in the 2nd
quarter of 1998 is less than the $.36 in the 2nd quarter of 1997. And this is a fact?<<

i don't spread disinformation. i said ops eps and i mean eps from OPERATIONS. it was pointed out on this thread that the $0.02 came from extra cash sitting in a banking account. now, either gtw is a bank stock or this isn't ops eps as in making money from selling computers. i hope you feel cheesy accusing in ignorance when you could have asked.
