Joseph - Re: "Paul what's your take on Merced..." Intel is an easy target to trash with the Merced delay. The delay itself isn't good, but this is a major undertaking and will take time to come to fruition. What the article failed to mention is that Intel's competitors have also delayed their chips - the ALpha 21264 was due last year and SUN announced a 3 month delay in the UltraSparc III - which the bozos at MDR haven't even mentioned. Schedules slip, targets are missed. The original Pentium was a year late, huge, slow and consumed way too much power. Intel fixed all the problems. Merced may be a similar story. Paul
