Denis, I'm sorry but you have a very limited understanding of kimberlite. Your 3 scenario's are way off base. Core that is not kim. is not processed because it has 0% chance of containing diamonds. This would only dilute Ashtons results and would defeat the purpose of sampling the pipe. If k91 was not kimberlite and it contained diamonds then what is it? (it is kimberlite!). Denis, it is not uncommon to find different phases in a pipe that vary greatly in grade. One portion of a pipe may be barren while another part may be oozing with stones. It is not often that a pipes grades are even and consistent throughout the pipe! I will attempt to find a link for you to explain how this happens.
