from Briefing.com: 10:33 ET SOX Semiconductor Index The day is definitely dominated by themes rather than specific stocks. Net stocks are one theme, but semiconductors top the list. The SOX semiconductor index is rocketing 12 points today to 275 helped by favorable comments from Lehman. Intel (INTC) +1 1/2 leads the way, but virtually all the 16 stocks in the index are up: Novellus (NVLS) +3 1/8, Applied Materials (AMAT) +2, Micron (MU) +1 and so on. They note also that smallcap and midcaps are outperforming the large caps today -- Russell 2000 is up 1.6% and S&P Midcap 400 up 1.5%
