George, "sky is falling crowd" and "stocks' prices should fall crowd" are different.
Cramer's comments are strange, as usual. Comparison of Mexico with second largest world economy could be deeper. Not sure how useful personal dinner experience may be for political and economical forecasts, but final analysis should be delayed until digestion is completed...

"no Leonid Brezhnev, no Stalin, no Comintern"... Comintern was dissolved in 1943, Stalin died in 1953, Brezhnev died in 1982. Well, no Hitler, no Napoleon, no Roman Empire, no Sparta, no Leonid, very important and relevant facts for 1994 economy trends. Probably, it was very poetic way to say that Soviet Union does not exist. No one can probably say that Soviet Union was an ideal US partner, but it was stable and relatively predictable. Instead, world has to deal now with 15 states, and some of them are very unstable and completely unpredictable, not to mention all in deep crisis, together with all Eastern European countries. Did Soviet Union influence US economy? Not as much as someone may think. It could influence defense budget, but the significance of international situation for defense budget of any country is usually very well overestimated.
" I mean, is there anyone more capitalistic than the Chinese?? Their "Communism" reminds me of Adam Smith's capitalism at its rawest, most Dickensian form"
Very optimistic note. Communism as political system and Capitalism in economy represent as stable mix as hydrogen/oxygen. The difference is that the spark will create blood rather than water.

Have a nice weekend.
