Good question Elmer - buy now or not. Depends on your objectives and where your investments are now.

Look at a few things in your situation ...

a. do you currently own oilers and where.
b. we had a recent dip in the mkts, I'd be more comfortable in buying big if we retested the lows.
c. how would you feel getting in SLB now at 60 and watch it fall to 50 in the near term?
d. ask: what is driving oil prices higher, other than some ANALysts say so.
e. if you do decide to get in, get in in stages, ie dollar cost avg. buy some, then maybe buy more in a month.
f. I don't think we saw capitulation yet, then again, we don't need it as a precursor to prices going up.
g. re f, do you think that Saddam will cause more trouble?
h. If you do buy, can you discipline yourself to cut any potential downtick at say 1/2 point from where you bought, ie can you watch all day long?

I'm not comfortable in buying for overnight holds at all right now, but at the same time these upticks sure feel much better than how things were progressing.

it

I'm just going to watch. I'd appreciate your comments on a-h.

Elmer great point - Big Dog - ''decoupling'' here with no crude move ?

... ...just kidding on decoupling; but for a 20% move with crude flat and no positive oil news - had to ''some'' decoupling...

Elmer - great points - notice the silence from the ''timers'' !

...they don't know what to do ! My point exactly - they chastised us who averaged down and bought here at fundamental numbers - ignoring the market. Do they miss the 30-40% move or do they jump on now and get taken down 15% - triggering a stop loss sale in a few days....or do they do nothing and miss a 40-60% run ?

Hey; I have no problems with ''traders'' but, momenteum - follow the leaders who have no clue to the fundamental financial value of these companies - and are clueless in any research; enter only on a '' I have no reason other than I will follow the crowd'' - MOMO mentality; they will continue to get whipsawed here....

Basing to a bottom, but still not where I thought the ''true bottom'' was - when RIG was $38-9 and EVI $26-7; we went 10% below where I ''just knew'' institutions would step in. - Maybe they are not so stupid after all,,,,

That CNBC chart on everyone up 10-11% on double volume was an ''event'' ! - this could be it, but will it be a turn on the dime ? - whaata you say Diamnon H ?
