Bird, can we keep MTEI issues on the MTEI thread? I am very sorry for what happened to MTEI, I have a lot of friends in that stock and I still have a bit myself. However, slamming someone here (or anywhere) does nothing to fix whatever problems exist with that company. Macker did nothing to cause MTEI's problems, nor did he hold a gun to anyone's head to buy. He gave DD that at the time he believed was accurate, and when fundamentals changed he provided that DD as well. I have not followed that situation closely, but I have seen some of the posts directed at him, and they threaten him with the vilest things, even slow death through disease. I understand he has even received death threats in PMs. Do you think anything good can come from this negativity?

Bird,
I too am sorry for what happened on MTEI - I had many friends who were hurt as well as myself. But, we cannot change that now. Mr Macker voiced his opinions in an honest fashion, and when the fundamentals changed or things did not make sense, he said so. He also lost a lot of money in the stock, if that makes you feel any better.
In the end, we are all responsible for our own actions - I know you know that.
I wish you well if you have DGIV, as for me, every day I become more confident with this investment. That is my choice - you and others can make your own mind up. Good luck.

Look, Bird.

Macker admitted he'd been wrong, acknowledged he'd lost money, announced that, yes, he'd been taken. He always did tell people to do their own DD; a pity more didn't.

Yes, the MTEI story is a debacle. I hope some, at least, have learned that "calling the company" isn't really doing research. We've all lost money on dumb investments at times, through an excess of enthusiasm, through laziness, through--and this is the biggie--greed. But it makes no sense to blame others.

Trading in MTEI wasn't suspended by the SEC because macker thought it looked like a good deal, and turned out to be wrong. The SEC is interested in possible fraud and material misrepresentation on the part of the company. What has happened has, at bottom, nothing to do with macker, or with me, or with the "Mag7" or with anyone except those who were actively involved in the management of MTEI and its stock.
