>>>Guy, I like the chip equipment cos. Novellus is one of my favorites, but AMAT is one where I have more respect and I buy puts slowly there.

That's why AMAT has been able to weather the stock meltdown a lot better than other players. Many investors still remember the 1995 summer low of $13 and how it ran all the way back to %50's in less than a year. So the buy on dip crowd has consistently put a bottom for this stock at high $20's. For the group, NVLS is probably the only other one who hasn't been killed yet. NVLS is more volatile and could go lower than AMAT faster and deeper, since it's not as solid and well known. But, there's no put leap for NVLS.

>>>For a complete list of my technology puts, see techstocks.com. That list is pretty current except that I wouldn't start a Ciena put program any more at these levels.

Yes, always a good source for factual opinion.

>>>The bull run has extended far beyond my predictions,...So, I suspect the best time to load up on these will be from about Aug 12 to the end of the month.

I am surprised that most people haven't sold yet. But, there's a good chance that AMAT's backlog has shrink considerably after they preannounced in early June. The fact that they preannounced so early in the Q may indicate things have very likely worsen. Must be hard for them to keep spinning good a story.

MB,

What's your take on MOT?
It seems they miss every quarter
and are endlessly restructuring.
Thanks.
