LRCX & IPEC will eventually be bought out by NVLS. The "Copper Alliance" concept is just a prelude to the deals being sealed. IMO.

*AV*--my vote would be for BRKS to be bought out by the likes of ASYT or PRIA or some European version of these 2 companies. BRKS is a very attractive takeover candidate.

The comments made about LRCX and IPEC falling under the wing of NVLS makes a great deal of sense and for the reasons given. AMAT is getting to be too powerful with its extensive product line and it could cause a great deal of grief for the other companies. I have stated on previous occasions(maybe not in the same post) that IPEC, LRCX, KLAC, and NVLS all compete head to head with AMAT. As far as IPEC is concerned, they had this "alliance" with Ontrack which succumbed to LRCX, and they were kinda duking it out with SFAM. A joining of forces of IPEC, LRCX, and NVLS will definitely create a viable alternative to AMAT and put a damper on AMAT's quest to be all things to everyone.

Please consider that on site field servcice contracts are becoming more of an acceptable practice. At the exorbitant costs of these contracts, companies want to be as cost effective as possible. the more equipment you can get under one umbrella the more cost effective it becomes. This is further fuel for the comments made about the marrriage of these 3 companies. However, I think KLAC should at least be invited to this dance.
