Cyberian Outpost Announces Strategic E-Commerce Initiative for Latin
America

Business Wire - August 10, 1998 10:14

KENT, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 10, 1998--Cyberian Outpost, Inc. (NASDAQ: COOL), a leading global
Internet-only retailer of computer hardware, software and peripheral products today announced a marketing and transaction
agreement with StarMedia Network, one of Latin America's top online networks. Under the terms of the agreement, Cyberian
Outpost will be the premier computer products reseller for the StarMedia Network. Currently, Cyberian Outpost generates 36%
of its revenues in international markets, and this announcement reflects a strategic move by the company to further its position in
Latin America.

Over the course of this one-year agreement, Cyberian Outpost (www.outpost.com) is guaranteed a minimum number of
impressions from StarMedia (www.starmedia.com). In return, the company pays StarMedia an initial and monthly fee. As
Cyberian Outpost generates revenue through this partnership, a small portion of the proceeds are paid to StarMedia.

Cyberian Outpost will be promoted by StarMedia through a series of online promotions such as banner ads, buttons and
storefronts. In addition, Cyberian Outpost will be included in StarMedia's offline advertising and marketing initiatives throughout
Latin America.

"Cyberian Outpost selected StarMedia to extend its reach into the Latin American market because it is easy to use and it has
become the online gathering place for Internet users throughout the region," said Darryl Peck, President and CEO of Cyberian
Outpost.
