Mary, I assume from your post that you think valuation does not matter in regards to Intel. No, this isn't the Presstek thread, but a philosophy like that belongs there.

The point about valuation is that Intel today has little room for error. When it was previously at this multiple, the stock declined--the first time for a very stupid reason (the Pentium 'scare') and the second time for a very good reason (earnings growth problems of debatable origin). But it still declined.

At $88/share and with earnings visibility low, the upside is much more limited than the downside.
