Here's an excerpt from a Senate bill (S.1717 by Sen. Kennedy), now in subcommittee, that would move the INS along on tenprinters:

There is a companion bill introduced in the House, H.R. 3341, by Cong. Gephardt, which is also in subcommittee (i.e., not very along in the legislative process). Since the sponsors here are liberal Democrats, I don't hold out too much hope for these particular bills going through. However, sometimes elements of bills are picked up in other proposed legislation.

I believe that TouchView II uses pattern recognition and is $1500. Buck will correct or concur on this. I also think the lost contract IDXER is referring to is Arizona where Morpho replaced our scanner with their Morphoscan after the pilot was approved.
