I wonder who it IS that is able to enter these orders in small fractions, then?

Perhaps knowing that would give us a clue as to who enters these abusive (in my opinion) odd-lot orders.

I put-up 1500 shares of MDCO for sale today, only to have all of 40 shares snapped-up by one of these orders in 1/32'nds. (Us peons can't place orders in 32nd's, except on low-price stocks.) That left me with 1460 shares... The price moved, and I had to then offer 1460 shares, which I'm sure looked less than attractive.

So, I wind-up paying an extra commission. I'd rather the 40 shares had simply not been taken.

I realize, of course, on an order that large, it would not be unusual to have a few hundred shares lopped-off, leave several hundred more. But that is much more tolerable, as it still leaves me with a lot size that is more marketable.
