LOD..You can buy a CPQ PC with Pentium II 300 and the full compliment of the usual goodies for about $1100. Can you tell me why one of the "high end" machines Dell offers is necessary for more than a few % of the PC buyers? If the consumer pays another $1000 for a PC what additional real additional benefit is he getting? I am truly interested in a solid answer and am not flaming you and am not looking to be flamed.

LoD, please consider going back to the Dell thread unless you are hear to add analysis and value. I dont care if you bad mouth Compaq, because I like opposing views - backed with facts. Personal attacks and the like are a serious waste of everyone's time. I've been in and out of both Dell & Compaq, and I dont bad mouth either one. I think they are both going to be successful in the long term, I just like Compaq's near and far term prospects better at this time. I would like to see this thread move towards more analysis (and a little cheer leading is OK), but the personal garbage is getting very tiring.
