penni,

My father died in Dec. '83. My mother had a "stroke" seven days later. She died in March '84. There was a feeling of a preprogramed progression involved. Like one generation to the next. Sometimes spouses get too close.

I'm glad your mother had some fun. Hell I hope my widow lives it up but I do wish she is a next and younger wife.

HI Penny !! Re Why would I go through that again?" she said.
She and a bunch of widows got together and traveled and had a wonderful time. When one of them got a boyfriend, the others were appalled. They didn't understand it at all.
It's a sad commentary of marriages of the last generation. Do you think ours will say the same?

No No it's not necessarily sad, I expect it's a real compliment to
your dad. I think at 61 understand it well, perhaps you need to get older to capture the essence of it.

My wife and I both see it this way , and we are madly in love. She is 10yrs younger , but I'm sure when I croak she will do much like your mom. I also consider it one hell of a compliment.

Haven't you every done something really great, that you would
not take anything for the memory, but so difficult that you
don't want to try to repeat it ? Long term marriages in this
society today are not easy achievements ( if they were I would
question the value in them )

PS , I will add particularly if you have raised a litter of
kids <G>
