Andrew: Point of misinformation on my part. ALNK does have long term contract but its customers can unilaterally break them with adequate notice. As a result, ALNK does not have a backlog proper.

DY: Bell Atlantic strike could be positive for Dycom

Summary

* Dycom Industries could receive special order from Bell Atlantic as early as today in connection with the strike at Bell Atlantic which began yesterday.

* In past strikes Dycom has received special orders and/or, in other cases, has been put on notice that substantial assets of the company would be utilized in the event of a strike.

* If a special order is received from Bell Atlantic it would clearly be additive to our first fiscal quarter earnings estimates.
