The MMX is part of the Klamath - 0.35 micron Pentium II and Deschutes - 0.25 micron Pentium II. The Pentium Pro does have a full CPU speed L2 cache as opposed to the Pentium II which uses a half-CPU Speed L2 cache. However, all Pentium Pro systems are shipped with only a 66 MHz front side bus - and slower, EDO RAM. For benchmarks which prioritize L2 cache speed, a 333 MHz Pentium Pro - if one is offered -may possibly be faster than a 333 MHz Pentium II. A XEON, however, does have a full speed L2 cache - just like the Pentium Pro. It would stand to reason that a 350 or 400 MHz XEON should be faster than a 333 MHz Pentium Pro. The 100 MHz Front Side Bus and 100 MHz SDRAM should also insure faster performance for the XEON machines - with the 440 GX chip set. The XEONS shipped with 450NX chip sets (4-way SMP capability) are limited somewhat because the 450NX supports ONLY a 66 MHz bus and slower memory. Paul

Mike, RE:"I myself am considering to buy a ppro 333, clock it to 400 or at least 350 with 100 bus, and stick it into a BX board as Abit-BH5, and buy myself a convertor from slot 1 to socket 8. I didn't know there were any Pentium Pro 333s. I thought 200 was tops. Jim
