Take a look at his chart...dave has the 8-17-9 MACD chart on the bottom....we were looking for a buy signal. As you can see at days end it was right on the edge of a buy signal.

Just for fun...then change the symbol to IBM, and change the MACD to 12-25-9...and recreate the chart for IBM. IBM is right on the edge of signaling a sell.

That's as of today's close this won't be the same come Monday.

Then if you play around with some the stocks you own. If you are wondering about buying use the 8-17-9, or wondering about selling use the 12-25-9. It shows you which way a stock is trending near term.

I also use it on longer term positions...as to when to take some off the table...or if I'm building when to put some in.
