Beware of "Snake Oil" and "Black Box" Salesmen I suggest everyone take a long look at SRCM's history of fraudulent press releases and statements which were promotional in nature, and knowingly false and untrue when they were made. Here are just a few of their fraudulent statements... 1. Jan 13 SRCM Press Release, "The Interactive Channel is the only commercial, market-tested programming service designed for the digital cable platform." IMO this is Fraud. At that time the Interactive Channel was not designed or "market" tested on a digital cable platform. Furthermore, all Interactive Channel tests with cable systems proved to be failures. 2. SRCM Promotes "phenomenal subscriber growth" in Colorado Springs Interactive Cable test and in a press release indicates the . IMO this was fraud. The Colorado Springs Project was later canceled due to lack of subscriber interest. 3. July 28 Press Release: "The Interactive Channel is an interactive cable TV programming service designed for today's digital cable TV programming tiers, and has carriage agreements with Century Communications Corporation, Marcus Cable Company L.P. and Cablevision Systems Corporation." Century Cable project in Colorado Springs was terminated by Century Cable April 1, 1998. Century was formerly Cablevision, thus both Cablevision and Century have effectively terminated services with SRCM's Interactive Channel. Marcus Cable was purchased in April for $2.78 billion by Microsoft Corp. co-founder Paul Allen who has recently purchased Charter Communications for $4.5 billion. Paul Allen claims in a July 30 press release he will "combine it (Charter) with Marcus Cable Co. as part of a plan to marry cable TV systems with new interactive multimedia technologies." Charter is rolling out WorldGate's interactive TV service in 7 markets... Like snake oil salesmen, and the infamous BREX, SRCM HYPES a "Black Boxes", mysterious cable contracts and their super duper patents. They started by HYPING the Interactive Channel, when it failed, they instead called it a success and avoided more attention on the subject by moving on to a new promotion. The new promotion? Constant hints and promises of new carriage contracts - notice they always have a rumor floating of a "Big Deal" they are about to sign - or a buyout by one of the "majors", or investment in their company by one of the "majors". This rumor mongoring is BS. Not one single rumor has panned out. When they were unable to sign any new carriage agreements, they began their promotion of the "Virtual Modem", a "black box" that will supposedly provide internet access via cable TV. Problem is it has NEVER been tested or deployed on a cable system and reportedly requires too much memory to function properly in a settop box. Am I the only person that sees this as a disturbing trend of HYPE PROMOTION and RUMORS? All of their promises and "snake oil" promotions have failed. None of the rumors have been true, but the company has benefited. Management is paid huge bonuses based on increasing the price of the stock, and if the stock to trade above $20 for to days they get to exercise warrants and raise 25.85 million bucks. Don't be one of the suckers that goes down with this mess. The writing is on the wall here - and there are many, many other good investments in this market. Be wise. Best of Luck Steve All Comments Are Sincerely IMO...
