See posts 1821 & 1856. As I said i paid $1149.88 +7.99 shipping. It was a loss leader type thing that I happened upon. Now they are selling the same ones for $1699.99. Surplus Direct. Was at Compusa today and they have my 8290's succesor the 8380 I think. Seems similar only more memory and a smaller harddrive I think. $2049.99 which would be $2214 with tax. So, I got a model thats a little older and was returned to HP for whatever reason for 52% of a similar system at Compusa out the door. I only get 90 days warrany though. The extended service plan seems like a good deal but i know they are big profit centers for the retailers. But just one instance and it would pay for itself it seems. Of course if the processor goes out in 2 years it wont cost much for a 400 by then. I might pay it just for piece of mind assuming I can get reasonable assurance that the warranty company isnt fly by night. I did check into memory at compusa and it seems you have to order HP memory and they REALLY sock it to you. Like $214 for 64 mg. So far the 64 I have is fine. The DVD is cool, a hollywood studios sampler came with it. One thing Is I'm only conecting at 28.8 despite having a k-56 modum and using a k-56 line at MSN. I'm pretty pleased that I got some top of the line technology on the cheap. Building one wasnt an option since I dont have what it takes. ps...Oh yeah, Datek told me I couldnt short COOL and some folks reported their shorts busted. Did that happen to you ? What about any gains/losses ?
