The survey, which took into consideration women-sensitive variables such as sex ratio, literacy rates, child mortality, fertility and work participation, found the Hindi heartland states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana as the most women-unfriendly. The way, we Indians treat our women and girls, female fetus is nothing short of national shame. Selectively forced abortion ( Search and destroy) on female fetus is totally against human decency, & is illegal and criminal. How come this Indian forces abortion on a female fetus and turns around to Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswathi seeking health, wealth, happiness, and knowledge. It is utterly selfish and hypocritical. The Indian in-laws have brain-washed their families. This national compulsion to have only male babies is deeply ingrained in to Indian psyche. It has to go. The dowry habit is another national shame. I did not ask for or get dowry. JPR
