It was a failed attempt. I managed to merge the posted messages from Seattle back to Kansas.

Not sure what went wrong yet (hardware or software), but it wasn't good.

We're switching over to Seattle again Sunday at 2pm (ET). The outage will last only about 5-7 minutes, since we've already had a practice run. Kansas servers will automatically throw people over to the Seattle servers.

For any techies out there, the problem was that the Intel Network card on the SQL Server was set for "auto" instead of "full duplex"...it's supposed to detect that the network switch wants to talk "Full duplex", but it detected just the opposite (half duplex). The symptoms (a sluggish network) didn't materialize until the system was under a heavy load on Saturday morning.

I'm not sure whether to thank Intel or the network switch vendor for the auto-screwup feature but it's fixed now.
