From newspaper dated Aug 8 1998

"...This month computer component prices have continued to increase in Beijing's silicon valley area...

In this Chinese tech hub prices are increasing for CD, DVD, chipsets, DRAMs, motherboards...32 Meg DRAM have increased from $200RMB to $250RMB...Hard drives have increased by $50 to $100RMB. CPUs are showing the greatest % increase.....

Many are blaming problems caused by the new HK airport....

This is a big problem for the smaller box makers and even the larger computer companies...."

Very Interesting!!

Ramsey, after reading the article's assumptions I was tempted not
to read the rest, because they are mostly optimistic. I credit the
authors for stating them, though.

When Mr Morgan tells the public that his company has surveyed
customers, it is probably shorthand. I must believe that such
a large company has economists and other prognosticators whose
research goes way beyond discussions with customers.
