Jim, Actually the big proliferaton of them started in the sixties and seventies when being a PSYCH major or Communications major was the "in" thing. Now we have too many psycologists and reporters not to mention Lawyers.

It's widespread incompetence and it's getting worse. I stopped at Arby's the other day to buy a sandwich. The drive-thru however was designed to flow clockwise so I paid through the passenger side window. I practically had to climb out of my car. It was almost laughable.

I live in the United States. As you probably know we drive on the right side of the road. Yet Ford and GM start designing some cars with the gas caps on the passenger side. Now you pull into a gas station and cars are pointed in both directions.

Another example I bought a suite awhile back at a nice store, I think it was Nordstoms. Anyway the dressing room had vented doors. The doors however were put on backwards so the vents faced upward. i.e. you couldn't see out of the dressing room but others could see in. It was just ridiculous.
