Maybe Bezos and the VCs figure that they need until then to sell off their shares. Once
they start to show a few cents of profits investors might not have just dreams to peg the
stock to and the value may tumble down on the reality.

Rob,

This could very well be true. Tom D asked a good question about what may be the catalyst. I feel vindicated (still a lot poorer) about my thoughts on the business model. I believe the recent acquisitions proved the business model was not working. However, the market did not care.

The analysts are now becoming comical. Both Jamie and Benji admit they do not know why Amazon made the recend acquisitions. They did increase loss estimates but continue with a buy rating until more information is known. It would seem at best a hold recommendation would be warranted until more information is known. There is clearly lack of visibility. Bezos stated he would not give the reasons for the acquisitions so as not to tip off the competition. The competion, at least until now, had been Borders and Barnes and Noble along with the other smaller firms in the group. I am certain Borers and Barnes and Noble have no intentions of becomming a portal so they are not competition regarding the new acquisitions.

The comments made by Bezos sounds like a smack in the face to the long investor. He spend their money in a sense by dilution using stock but the long investor is not entitled to know the reason for these acquisitions. How can the long investor vote to approve the acquisition if they have no further information on it? I realise no vote will be required but thought I would throw that in<G>
