Of course I agree that new equipment (and lots of it) will eventually be necessary to move down to .18 microns and beyond. As an investor, it then becomes a matter of deciding how long it will be before Applied begins to recognize significant revenue from the next generation of chips. The Asian economic situation may only get much worse. If China floats its currency and sets off a vicious round of devaluations, then Applied (and consequently it's stock) will be in trouble. I want a piece of my portfolio to be in semiconductor equipment, but I also think that AMAT will come down in price to where it is a better value. The current turnaround in sentiment among many of the big brokerage houses is a bit premature in my opinion, especially given the continued (and worsening) economic picture overseas. We'll all have a better idea of where this stock is heading after the conference call. Good luck to all.
