Scott,
<<Toshiba and who...?>>
I am expecting SEG to announce a play. A wild card is the private effort by Taiwanese interests to breath new life into Integral Peripherals. (I do not know if they plan to continue to pursue the so-called 3 inch disk or not. Their IP included designs with both 3 in. and the more standard 2.5 in.)

The guys who own this segment, for now, are IBM, and Toshiba with IDC forecasting they will have 38% and 33% of market share in 1998 respectively. Fujitsu and Hitachi are forecasted to have 15% and 12% respectively and can be expected to stay in the fray. Seagate is presently negligible at 2%. Most analysts agree that the mobile computing platform will enjoy higher increasing growth rates in comparison to the desktop platform.
