microsoft just passed up IBM finally in software, so your ref is outdated.

IBM may pass Seagate shortly. Disk drives come in many flavors, and IBM plays in all high end. Seagate and EMC together make EMC's drives, whereas IBM does all its in house

Sorry, that would be reserved for Seagate already. Of course this is due to Seagate's prominence in the desktop as well as server class hard drives. IBM is second in terms of revenue, and is lower on the scale in terms of units shipped.


In the past month or so, Disktrend claimed that IBM was now the largest disk company again. As I read it, it was attributed to the prices falling worse in the disk segments where Seagate is big than in those IBM dominates.
