Thanks for all the private messages re the poem. I hate to disappoint, but it appears too many of you read more into it than was intended. "Prod," as in "an incitement." It was a commentary on the tendency of some to blindly follow others, i.e., the shepherd and sheep syndrome. But alas, 'tis the nature of writing. Everyone finds in prose that for which they are looking. ggg.
