The kind of on-line datebook, address book &
messaging services that PlanetAll has are an area of rapid change and shifting paterns of
use. But there are lots of similar services out there and other areas of services that these
two companies don't touch on. These services both fit into and compete with products
and services offered by Microsoft, IBM, Yahoo!,

I perceived the Planet site as a total waste. It is certainly possible I did not understand the benefits. However, Most decent computers come with Now Contact and Now Up to Date software. Reminders are automatic, storing addresses is a piece of cake, etc. It is much more simple than going to some web page to configure such and to check ones email for a birthday, etc. The Planet site also has lots of bugs. I looked at it, resgistered but would never have a need for it.

ICQ (if its the one from Mirabilis) was bought by AOL.
Excite does not license Jango out (after they bought it)
