<<Charlie are you starting to sound like a Bear?>>

I am bearish on earnings for the average company. We may see flat comparisons for the S&P500 this year ($45), which in my estimation is what the move from 1050 to 1187 and back is about. In January the market was looking for 10% EPS growth for the year 98. Now it's more like 2%. Furthermore, 1999 is even more of a question mark, particularly if the Asian situation gets worse. I'm actually bullish on interest rates, and I expect as the Yen continues to fall we could see 5% on the long bond by October.

TXN is a different story. It's not the average company, and should continue to grow earnings at a 15% rate for the next few years.
