<I know he'll be promoting all the products in general, but I would think that the high end stuff is Eric B's domain.
Claflin is going to try to put a Palm Pilot in every person's
hand no matter where they live on this planet. Same with basic
networking equipment.>

I think it's exactely the other way round. Eric is responsible for Palm computing and Claflin responsible for everything else.

From Yahoo:

In this newly created position, Claflin will oversee the worldwide operations
of 3Com's $5.4 billion networking business. Functions reporting to Claflin
will include 3Com's four business units -- Large Enterprise, Small-
to-Medium-Enterprise, Carrier Systems and Client Access -- worldwide
sales and marketing, including human resources and information systems.

As Chairman and CEO, Benhamou will continue to drive the company's
strategic, financial and technology directions, public policy and on
strengthening existing and developing new key partnerships and customer
relationships necessary to further 3Com's growth in each of its customer
markets. Functions that will continue to report directly to Benhamou
include finance, long-range technology direction and business development,
which includes new business investments and initiatives, strategic
partnerships and Palm Computing, a subsidiary of 3Com.
