The Greek islands are, indeed, intoxicating. Their antiquity and beauty are overwhelming and makes one define their place in the universe. Crete is actually a subculture of Greece and home of a wonderful people. The Palace of Minos at Knossos is remarkable even today but was unfortunately destroyed by the same forces which created the caldera of the island of Santorini.
