Gene,

<This is great for the consumer, but what does it mean for the industry?>

I think you already know my answer since it has been voiced many times by many people. What it means is more people using PC's....many of whom would have never bought PC's before. It means more network traffic which means more demand for high-end servers. It means more people banking electronically, getting information electronically, shopping electronically, etc. These factors mean even more PC sales at all level's, especially the high end. It means most businesses never selling over the net will have to start competing electronically which means they will have to buy new equipment and/or upgrade current equipment. It means brand new business being created (all of which will have to buy computers) to satisfy all the demand for electronic commerce, information, entertainment, etc.

As far as guessing what a sub-0 will look like a few years from now...all I can say is it will be significantly more powerful. Heck the $2500 PC (without monitor) I just bought was the cheapest PC I ever bought and yet by quantum leaps it is the most powerful. Isn't technology great!
