TMPW..FINL...was I play I made one day before earnings and held through earnings. If you check the historical charts of TMPW it has consistently beat earnings in the past 3 quarters. It could very easily be a good play for next week. Stocks that beat the street were usually up, those that were up came down due to the negative market climate afterward. Then there is a third group like FINL: FINL...BT Alex. Brown analyst Marcia Aaron said of the decline in Finish Line and the others. She said Foot Locker has been offering 25 percent off nearly all running shoes made by Adidas, ''one of the hotter brands'' in the industry. ''My sense is that was something that took the industry by surprise,'' she said. ''It has me and others concerned about what that means for sales and profits in the industry during the key back-to-school selling season.'' ''We're in a market that from time to time tends to overreact and I can't imagine things are anywhere near as bad as what we've seen happen to the (stock) price,'' he said. ''I think this is probably an overreaction but we're really not going to know for another week or two what impact this is going to have.'' Aaron said the sell-off in Finish Line may be a buying opportunity. ''I think this is a great company and unfortunately it's in a difficult industry right now,'' she said. ''That said, I think great companies occasionally give you opportunities. This may be an opportunity.'' She has the stock rated strong buy.
