Other than preventing the "So, are we in Seattle yet?" posts and emails, it just makes it all that more exciting to give up-to-the-minute updates.

The folks at NASA don't say "For any spectators out there, we'll be launching the shuttle sometime over the weekend."

Ok, ok, I'll admit no one cares as much about this to the extent that I do :)

Each post takes a minimum of 2200 bytes: the database allocates about 200 bytes for each record including indexes, plus a multiple of 2k for the "blob" (i.e. the text of the message).
