Kip: selective devaluation of the yuan? It is not at all unusual to use exchange rates that differ from the official ones for international transactions. The European Common Market has been doing this for a few decades now (mainly for agricultural products). The only problem is that all parties involved have to agree. The advantage of a stealth devaluation is that they can delay the official devaluation until the market climate has improved, thereby possibly avoiding a crash. Cheers, Phil
