Re -- Cisco Chief Predicts Acquisitions Made by Telecom Rivals Will Fail.

Looks like Mr Chambers is running scared. Given that Lucent,NT/Bay and others have a layer 3 switch which competes directly with Cisco's bread and butter routers and catalyst switches at a fraction of the price, Cisco's growth and margins are in Jeopardy.

Lucent just released the L3 switch with GE from prominet (an acquisition), at the same time as Cisco's 8510 w/o GE. Lucent is ahead of Cisco is certain aspects of data networking.!!!

>>WSJ. Cisco Chief Predicts Acquisitions Made by Telecom Rivals Will Fail [Silly argument by Chambers. I guess if you keep saying it, it must be true... Let's see.

Not at all silly, you just have a comprehension problem. There are vast differences between outright acquisitions and strategic alliances/partnerships. Chambers has always opposed large mergers, citing extra chromosomal spawn such as BAY as a shining failures.

>>And, by the way, ASND/Cascade has proved to be very, very successful with all due respect, Mr. Chambers.

The market says otherwise. That merger was poorly executed and established ASND's reputation for faulty products. The combined market cap has never recovered. And if it weren't for takeover speculation and judged on performance alone, ASND would be languishing even more than it is.

Fear and envy have clouded your insight as revealed in your insular bunker mentality. If you "think" Chambers is "absurd", you really haven't a clue. What's "absurd" is the continual and relentless assault on reality by voluble "Fortress Assenders" against all empirical evidence.
