This is absolutely not true, despite the fact that it appears to an observer to be absolutely true. In depth statistical studies of shooting streaks in the NBA show that while there are good shooters and bad shooters, the number of times a player makes 5 or 10 shots in a row is absolutely what would be predicted by chance. In Vegas, the dealer or player may win 5 or 6 hands in a row. This will happen 1 in 32 or 64 sequences as predicted by a statistical model.
