Dusty, I think that there are far more companies than we realize who actually do use the services of an outside promotional service. I have a friend who lives in my town. He was not educated beyond the fifth or sixth grade, and grew up dirt poor in a house with ten brothers and sisters, three bedrooms (one for mom & dad, one for the boys and one for the girls), and one bathroom, which was about 50 feet outside the back door of his house. No kid had more than one pair of shoes to his name at any given time. In the summer time, most of the kids didn't even have shoes. When he was 18 years old, he was already a veteran in the construction business in a developing area. He went to a bank, and borrowed enough money to buy one backhoe. He used the backhoe as collateral, and struggled to make the payments on the loan. Thru perseverence and determination, he was able to pay for the backhoe and buy another, and then another, and then a few more. Thirty five years later, he has developed one of the largest grading companies in the Southeast, and has an estimated net worth of over $30 Million. However, he is still functionally illiterate, and I swear he would remind you of Ernest T. Bass of Mayberry fame. The point I am trying to make is that my friend, while extremely successful in his career, could not write a news release if his life depended on it! :-) Binder A funny addition regarding this same gentleman, he ran for office as County Commissioner four years ago, and won! The funny thing about it tho, is that he never appeared publicly, not even once during his race. There was a large anti-incumbent movement, but I still feel had he spoken publicly during his campaign, he would have been dead meat, and eventually got his campaign manager to admit it. :-)
