It is possible that the host pulled the plug due to non payment. Chapters 7-11 in receivership tend to do that. In some cases the court will allow specifc payments to be made to keep a service operating. Electricity for mine pumping for example to save the asset flooding. A web host could be only $50-100 per month.
Has anyone queried the root host and asked?

Note below, last admin action was 8 Aug 98, was that when it was cut?

Pat,
The last time I spoke to Mr. Yellich , he informed me that in order to conserve the moneys that they had to work with , he was trimming all expenses. The web site was an expense that they could live without at this time.
