Company Press Release
Pla.net America Makes Announcement
BUFFALO, N.Y--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 1998--Pla.net America Inc. (OTC-BB:PNTC - news) jumped forward to its nation-wide September launch, after receiving the ''Beta 1'' version of its Local Area Web(TM) (LAW(TM)) software from IBM yesterday.

''The timely completion of this stage of development means that Pla.net is ahead of schedule for its North America-wide launch on September 14th,'' said Attila Lewis Lendvai, Vice President of Strategy and Communications for Pla.net. ''Pla.net can move ahead with confidence with its plan to roll-out 62 sites in year one,'' Lendvai added.

Pla.net's Local Area Web(TM) (LAW(TM)) incorporates a Lotus Domino platform hosted by the IBM Global Network. The result is a level of speed, reliability, and security not easily matched in the online world. The LAW(TM) is based on the same technologies IBM used to host the Nagano Olympic Games web site. In addition, LAWs(TM) feature a fully customized Lotus Notes application, designed specifically to web-enable entire communities.

''To our knowledge, LAW(TM) functionality exceeds that of any other online community to date,'' Lendvai added. ''Pla.net spent years researching and developing at the grassroots level, resulting in a need-based interactive community web system that enhances the way local users, associations, and businesses communicate and conduct business.''

Pla.net's LAW(TM) also functions as a platform for e-business, community by community. The Notes/Domino foundation allows other business applications, databases, and web pages to integrate easily. This means that the LAW(TM) can act as a community's own business Intranet.

''The bottom line is that Pla.net's LAW(TM) not only represents an unprecedented level of flexibility and practicality, but also the most complete, value-oriented, profit-driven community web solution we've seen to date,'' Lendvai said. ''Now that we have the beta version in hand, and can preview what the final solution will do, we can hardly wait for September 14th, when our LAW(TM) solution will be made available to communities across the United States and Canada.''

Pla.net is actively inviting prospective Developers, to establish and/or own Local Area Web(TM) sites. The company anticipates that it will have several deals signed and sites operational even before its official launch on September 14, 1998.

Barb, ASHW was recommended on CNBC by Joe Teklits of Ferris, Baker Watts today. It has come down from 18 3/8 in May to 6 1/8 yesterday. It is a quality sportswear apparel company that got hurt on a quality control issue ( the bad stuff wasn't sold, but reduced their available inventory). Trailing P/E is 13.83 and forward is 11. They are selling at less than 1 times sales and only 1.3 times book. Their growth has been 100% plus and their balance sheet looks good. While I was checking this out, the stock went up to $7. It traded over 2 million shares today. They are big in golf apparel and with the PGA tournament starting tomorrow, they could get a quick boost.

I initiated a small position because it looked so good. Maybe that is only because I have been looking at too many short candidates. Take a look at the One Page report on Daily Stocks.
I will do additional DD, but on the surface, this looks like a great risk/reward situation. Any thoughts?

Good luck, Bob
