RE: The point I'm making is that we can't rely on the news media for the important details about history. Maybe such things as the day a war started, but never count on them telling the truth about who fired the first shot, or and even less why. Jim James, I would make quite a distinction between scholarly research and the popular news media. Regardless, it seems you have had access to several competing opinions within your sources on Lindbergh. Perhaps even enough to draw some intelligent conclusions. This is, of course, my only point.
